ARTSHACK DEBUT NOVEL
THE WALK THERE!
Walking side by side in comfortable silence. Alex looked over at Joseph. He looked as tough he was in his very early thirties.
At first glance, he was the typical estate agent, dressed in a smart grey suit and tie, white shirt, polished black shoes. His hair was swept back from his forehead in a mountain of rich auburn waves.
He looked immaculate. As though he had just sprang out of the 1980's....
"Pretty this wood isn't it Alex?"
Joseph blinked at Alex. He noticed he was wearing bright purple glitter eyeshadow.
"Yes, it is very pretty"
Alex was very impressed that Joseph had managed to step outside of his estate agent label, bringing a touch of himself to the background.
He noticed that his heart was thumping with eager anticipation. He started to drink in all his surroundings.
Tall trees loomed high into the sky. The sun filtered through the leaves dappling sunlight across the woodland floor.
A kaleidoscope of multicoloured leaves, rust brown, yellow, deep red, crunched like jewels underneath his feet.
Within the undergrowth, just far enough away, he caught sight of a deer.
It seemed to blink at him, then vanish.
Alex looked up, several squirrels were jumping from branch to branch.
The breeze was so refreshing. She seemed to be dancing with him, full of fun.
He could literally smell home fires burning! He could see her. The shack he had never met. The one he was about to....
Upon the ground lay several apples, acorns and conkers.
Birdsong filled the woodland....
A ten minute walk of pure bliss. Within those minutes, Alex became Autumn and Autumn became him...
"Can you drive Alex?" Joseph said
"Yes, I drive a 4 x 4"
"Perfect! If you are truly interested in the property, it is possible to bring your car down here!
"Nearly there Alex. Just behind those bushes over there!"
Joseph swept back the bushes allowing Alex to pass through.
"WELCOME TO ARTSHACK!"
With one swift bow, Joseph grinned!
What stood in front of Alex was far beyond his wildest dreams. He was ultimately gobsmacked!
BUT I THOUGHT SHE WAS ABANDONED!
"She is. Not derelict though! Joseph laughed!
